Celebrating Cinema in Pondicherry

 Shoe Story is going to Pondicherry! We in Taiwan feel a special cinematic connection to the city, as whole streets in Taichung were once transformed into Pondicherry for scenes in Ang Lee’s Life of Pi.

The Indo French International Film Festival aims to be ‘truly an international platform for all filmmakers beyond language barriers across the globe.’ We’re delighted to participate and encouraged by the kind recognition. Greetings to director Satheesh Kumar and all our friends at IFIFF!

《鞋故事》要去本地治裡！ 我們台灣人與這座城市有著特殊的電影聯繫，因為台中的整條街道都曾因李安的《少年派奇幻漂流》中的場景而變成本地治裡。

Bright Star of the Sea

  這是我最近提交給競賽的設計。 提案是設計一面代表台灣的旗幟。  Here is a design I recently submitted to a competition. The proposal was to design a flag representing Taiwan.  海綠色 色的八角星代表台灣是“海上明亮的星星”。顏色讓人聯想到台灣最高峰玉山。它讓人聯想到指南針，暗指台灣作為海員目的地的歷史； 它還代表了台灣與更大世界的接觸以及台灣創意人的全球影響力。 白色代表陽光，代表我們社會對人類價值的理想。 梅花色融合了代表天空和海洋的藍色，以及代表激情的紅色。 梅子色代表豐富的文化果實。 作為旗幟的非傳統顏色，李子代表了國際社會中的新鮮事物。 （這種顏色還有一個實用的目的：它與經常看到旗幟的天空形成對比。） The sea-green eight-pointed star represents Taiwan as  as a bright guiding star on the sea.  It suggests Yushan (Jade Mountain), Taiwan’s highest peak. Reminiscent of a compass, it recalls Taiwan’s long history as a destination for seafarers. It represents Taiwan’s engagement with the larger world and the global reach of Taiwan’s creative minds. White represents sunlight and our society’s ideal of human rights and human worth. The plum colour represents rich cultural fruit. It blends the blue of sky and sea with red, the colour of passion.
